Gjivai Zechiël has extended his contract with Feyenoord, committing his future to the Rotterdam club until the summer of 2029. The new agreement marks another important milestone in the development of the 22-year-old midfielder, who has been part of Feyenoord since joining the academy at the age of 14. After making his first-team debut in August 2023, Gjivai continued his development through valuable experience at the highest level, including appearances in the UEFA Champions League and successful loan spells at Sparta Rotterdam and FC Utrecht.

Last season proved to be another important step. At FC Utrecht, Gjivai developed into one of the team’s key players, recording ten goals and ten assists across 50 appearances, including in the UEFA Europa League. His performances also saw him establish himself as a Netherlands U21 international. This summer, Gjivai returned to Feyenoord ready to compete for his place. He quickly established himself in the starting eleven and has made an immediate impact, with five goals and three assists in his first seven competitive appearances. His performances were recognised with the Eredivisie Player of the Month award for August.
