Gjivai Zechiël has received his first call-up to the Netherlands senior national team. The 22-year-old Feyenoord midfielder has been named in head coach Xavi Hernández’s squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches, marking another major milestone in his career. Gjivai will report to the national team in Zeist on Monday, September 21, as he prepares for his first international period with the senior side. The call-up sees him make the step from representing the Netherlands at U21 level to becoming part of the senior national team.

It is the latest chapter in an impressive period of development. Following successful loan spells at Sparta Rotterdam and FC Utrecht, Gjivai returned to Feyenoord this summer and immediately established himself in the first team. His performances at the start of the season earned him the Eredivisie Player of the Month award for August and were recently followed by a new contract with Feyenoord until 2029.

For us, this is a special moment in a journey we have been proud to be part of. Gjivai has continued to develop, embrace every new challenge and earn each next step through his performances on the pitch. His first senior international call-up is a significant milestone and recognition of the progress he continues to make.

We are incredibly proud to see Gjivai take this next step and look forward to supporting him as he begins his journey with Oranje.
