The King of Kickboxing has done it again! In front of nearly 25,000 roaring fans at the GelreDome, Rico Verhoeven proved why he’s still the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. After an epic five-round battle, Rico defended his world title for the 12th consecutive time. A fight that cements his place as one of the greatest athletes in combat sports history.
But this was more than just another win. Rico faced a determined Levi Rigters, who stepped into the ring under unimaginable personal circumstances, just six days after losing his father. Despite the emotional weight, Rigters brought his best, even managing to push Rico to his limits at moments. Yet, as champions do, Rico rose to the occasion and showed the heart and skill that have defined his incredible career.
After the fight, Rico displayed not only his strength but also his sportsmanship, calling for the crowd to honor Rigters:
“Believe me, this man is a future world champion. Let’s give him the respect he deserves.”
The fight was a spectacle from start to finish. From Rico’s bombastic gladiator entrance to the relentless action in the ring, it was a night that will be remembered as one of the most thrilling chapters in his career. Rico stood tall, showing once again why he’s called The King of Kickboxing.
We are immensely proud of Rico for his performance, his sportsmanship, and his unwavering drive to set the standard in the sport. This victory marks yet another milestone in his extraordinary reign. The champion’s journey continues, and we are excited to see what’s next for this living legend!
